Mission Fields


2013/2014 Mission Fields – St. Matthew’s supports both budgeted and unbudgeted Missions that are made up of many different Fields. These Missions are an important and ongoing Benevolence effort of the congregation. New Fields are added as identified to meet the needs of global, regional and local disasters, community or congregational initiatives and individual hardships.

  • Alex’s Lemonade Stand – Raises money to fight childhood cancer.
  • All Saints Sunday Offering – Provides health and dental benefits to retired clergy on fixed income.
  • Baby Manna – Local St. Matthew’s UCC offering to provide food and basic needs for infants and young children administered through Philabundance.
  • Bethany Children’s Home – Residential community services for children & youth located in Womelsdorf, PA.
  • Blessing of the Animals – St. Matthew’s UCC Neighborhood service for animal owners and advocates.
  • Bridge of Hope – A Chester and Lancaster County Organization that provides a church based approach to ending family homelessness.
  • Bright Hope International – Sewing machines supplied to global indigenous churches providing occupations for locals.
  • Church Change Changes Churches – Local collection of change by youth to assist struggling congregations in the PA Southeast Conference.
  • Church World Service – Global partner to the United Church of Christ providing sustainable grass roots efforts to populations to become self-sufficient through training and seedlot establishment, livestock husbandry – goats, rabbits, bees.
  • Church World Service – Monetary gift from St. Matthew’s UCC Guild to CWS to help eradicate hunger and poverty.
  • Harvest Home – Collection by St. Matthew’s UCC of foodstuffs and non-perishable items for distribution to local food banks.
  • Ingathering – Local organizations join together to collect new products and clothing for local agencies. Covered dish fellowship at time of gift disbursement.
  • Lancaster Theological Seminary – United Church of Christ Graduate School of Theology.
  • Living Waters UCC – A Philadelphia based UCC that has purchased its own sanctuary through local donations and from supporting affiliated congregations.
  • Neighbors in Need – An all church offering to benefit our disadvantaged homeland neighbors and ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States.
  • One Great Hour of Sharing – UCC administrated health, education, agricultural, emergency relief, refugee ministries in 138 countries and international and domestic disaster response.
  • Our Churches Wider Mission – Foundation UCC support connecting St. Mattew’s UCC in mission regionally, nationally and globally.
  • Philabundance – Philadelphia’s largest regional hunger relief organization.
  • Phoenixville Area Community Services – Offers support, aid and hope for residents who need information and direction as well as emergency assistance.
  • Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities – Provides community member is need with financial support, food and clothing donations and volunteer time.
  • Ride for Kids – A fundraiser that supports the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation research efforts.
  • St. Mary’s Franciscan Shelter – Phoenixville emergency shelter assisting homeless families in SE Pennsylvania.
  • The Clinic – A Phoenixville based medical clinic that serves the uninsured and underinsured and also offers addiction and nutrition counseling.
  • Thankoffering – Offering received in November by St. Matthew’s UCC for basic church support.
