July 19, 2017 – Moving Beyond the Inner Critic

Our first program will be held at St. Matthew’s, Wednesday July 19th at 7:00 PM and is aimed at destigmatizing mental health issues that keep us from bringing life to fullness and is presented by Dr. Bob Siegfried who offers the following outline…

Moving Beyond the Inner Critic

The Inner  Critic is a term used to describe the voices “inside the head” that lead to self-limiting behavior–often accompanied by the experience of sadness, anger, shame, and even self-loathing.
It offers us messages along the lines of “You are sooo stupid”, “There you go again”, “You’re such a failure”, etc.  And with messages like that the Inner Critic impacts negatively on our self‑confidence, our relationships, our work, our ability to trust ourselves and others, and so much more.

And in instances where the Inner Critic affects our ability to seek support in managing it, it can entrap us–seemingly inescapably–in a downward spiral of self-criticism and shame.

In this presentation you’ll learn

●            Where the inner critic comes from

●            The difference between constructive self-criticism and destructive self-criticism

●            How to pivot from discomforting self-talk and open yourself up to positivity, joy, confidence, and self-worth.

●            How to recognize signs that it may be in your best interest to seek support in moving beyond the Inner Critic

Your presenter: Dr. Bob Siegfried

Attendance is open to the public. A free-will offering to help cover expenses and assure the continuation of our Community Programs will be accepted.
